Last year I went to Stirling Castle with mother. But they had a large portion of the castle closed off for renovation work. Recently it was re-opened, with magnificent royal chambers, restored to the splendour of earlier times - James V of Scotland (Mary, Queen of Scots' father). I was really looking forward to seeing this.
It was a fiercely windy day, and the place was quite crowded, but Katie and I had a good time.

This is how it looked in the time of James V. They had skilled craftsmen reproduce these heads and then they were painted and mounted on the ceiling! |
