Duncansby Stacks

Before I go any further in relating my northern adventures, I must take out a few moments to mention the fascinating and very different place names they have in this area. Like some of the names in Orkney I've heard, my guess is that these are Norse influenced. Some of my favourites are:


Huna
Lybster
Scrabster
Scarfskerry


Aren't those fabulous names?


On our way to John O' Groats we stopped by Duncansby Stacks - a magnificent sight.

    Wow!! You need to tell us more about those stacks! Why "Duncansby"? Interesting geology up there in the north! It is really rather breathtaking!!
