Backfilling at Castle Craig!

I'll admit - I was bitter. Hilary & Megan (both from my trench) got to draw gravestones all day. I, on the other hand, got to backfill at Castle Craig. Boy, was it hard work! I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure I really loved it either. The 'soil' such as it was, was so filled with rocks and stone - both natural, and the remnants of the smashed up broch.
A last look around before the work started - the exposed wall of the broch. This and the other part of wall were covered with tarp before we started backfilling - i think in case they open the trenches again next year.

See all those piles of stones & dirt? They all had to go back where they came from!
Again, I was able to use some of the action shots taken by Sophia Kiara.
Wow, that pile is pretty much done! (I'm the one in red trousers)

Working on another one!
A turf assembly line.

Packing down the soil (we sang the Monkees song!)
